A conversation reader that admits what it can't see
ReadBeneath reads exported text conversations and surfaces the patterns beneath the words — the read most AI can't give you, because it's even-handed, grounded in decades of research, and honest about its own limits.

What ReadBeneath is for
Most of the conversations that matter don't happen in one clean moment — they unfold over weeks of texts, half-said things, and silences. ReadBeneath analyzes an exported conversation (from WhatsApp or iMessage) and gives you an even-handed read for one of three moments:
- Planning a hard conversation — see the dynamic clearly before you walk into it.
- Processing one that just happened — make sense of what was really said underneath.
- Supplementing work with a licensed therapist — bring evidence, not just memory, into the room.
What research is it grounded in?
ReadBeneath doesn't invent its own psychology. It reads a conversation through established relational frameworks and shows you which ones actually fit the evidence — with cited messages, never a hunch. Depending on the conversation, those lenses can include:
- The Gottman Institute's research on the Four Horsemen and repair attempts — read how those show up over text.
- Attachment theory (Bowlby and Ainsworth) — pursuer–withdrawer and bids for connection.
- Nonviolent Communication (Marshall Rosenberg) and the Five Love Languages (Gary Chapman) for how people express and hear care.
- Bowen family systems and the Big Five personality model for family and individual-difference lenses.
The right lens depends on the relationship and the question you brought — a family thread and a six-month romantic history don't get read the same way.
The rules it holds itself to
The hardest thing to build into an analysis tool is restraint. These are the lines ReadBeneath will not cross, enforced in the product itself — not just promised in copy:
- Every finding cites its evidence. If it can't point to the messages, it doesn't say it.
- Every observation ships with a charitable alternative. The kinder read is always on the table — never a verdict.
- It refuses when the sample is too thin. Below set message and time thresholds, it declines rather than guess — here are the exact numbers.
- Confidence is capped. No reading is ever presented as certain, and high-stakes ones sit behind a cool-down instead of an urgent nudge.
What happens to your conversation
A conversation is about the most personal thing you can upload, and it's treated that way. Personal details are masked before any content reaches the models that analyze it. There are no advertising or tracking cookies — only the essential ones that keep you signed in. You can export or delete your data, and the analysis is yours to read, not a profile to be sold.
The full detail lives in the Privacy Policy, and the common questions are answered in the FAQ.
See it on a real example first
You don't have to upload anything to see how ReadBeneath reads a conversation — walk through a complete sample report for a fictional couple, then run your own free analysis when you're ready.
